Congratulations to our customer, Susie Macmillian of The Mac’s Farm, who was crowned 2019 Poultry Farmer of the Year as last week’s Farmers Weekly award ceremony.
The prestigious awards ceremony, which took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, celebrates the very best of British farming. To take home the award, sponsored by NSF International, for Poultry Farmer of the Year is a wonderful achievement, officially recognising Susie as one of the best farmers in Britain.
The award is a testament to the hard work Susie and the team at The Mac’s Farm put in day in and day out. The farm is home to 18,000 organic layers, and they place great emphasis on high standards of bird health and welfare.
Martin Humphrey, Sales Director of Humphrey Feeds and Pullets was hugely privileged to be invited to attend the ceremony with The Mac’s Farm, which saw them beat off stiff competition within a strong shortlist, to take home the national award.
As The Mac’s Farm feed and pullet supplier, we were honoured to be mentioned in Susie’s award winning submission where she stated that by working closely with the Humphrey Feeds and Pullets team and her veterinary advisers, she raised bird performance, to the extent that her organic hens are now on a par with many non-organic operators.
Farmers Weekly judges said, “Susie is a bundle of energy, committed to the welfare of her 18,000 birds. She goes out of her way to educate the public about egg production and family farming.”
The awards were presented by broadcaster and journalist Jeremy Vine in front of more than 1,000 guests at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London's Park Lane.
From everyone at Humphrey Feeds and Pullets, massive congratulations to Susie and the team on your well-deserved success!
