Currency has seen very little movement. Bank of England kept base rate at 0.1%. Wheat started moving upwards but ended moving lower. US remains too dry, as does Canada. Europe still too wet. Russia on track with wheat harvest despite production drop. France in real trouble with wheat harvest only at 47%. Soya has been on an overall downward trend. Soya rose at end of the week, China re entering the market. Low water levels in Argentina, freight more expensive.
£ has seen a slight rise this week. Bank of England suggesting no quantitative easing measures. $ struggling with the increased levels of the Delta variant. Harvest started with good progress on barley and rapeseed. European harvest behind, future UK supply issues possible. Russia appear to be on target. US markets moving lower week on week. The £ loses ground against the $ and the €, despite analysts confidence in £ strength. US wheat markets moved lower due to lower temperatures. Currency remains stable at $ 1.42 and € 1.16 this week with little news. Wheat markets feel as though they have settled slightly from the huge daily swings. In the UK old crop prices are beginning to slowly creep up. Soya prices have moved back slightly this week after the USDA report increased end stocks. China imported 10% more soya compared to this time last year.
